Appstory- CEO Bautomate

Interview With Selva Ganesh CEO of Bautomate

Give us a brief introduction about your company.

We are a technology company that provides premium-grade intelligent business automation tools. We are focused on providing solutions for business process automation, robotic process automation, optical character recognition technologies, and document management solutions, powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. We offer both standalone solutions as well as intelligent embedded solutions that can be used within legacy applications.

We started as a small information technology company back in 2018 and right now, we are a formidable force of 55 employees consisting of software engineers, robotic process experts, analysts, technologists, AI experts, and ML & NLP technologies.

What are the services you offer to your clients?

We are primarily a technology products company providing intelligent automation solutions, but we also provide consulting and transformative services to our partners and clients. For example, what intelligent solutions would be the best fit for your business processes? What technologies do you need? Got legacy IT infrastructure you cannot move away from? How do you embed our intelligent systems into your existing IT assets and augment your capabilities in the process? We provide deployment, integration, transition, and consulting services.

In this intensely competitive era, what technologies, services and project models can give you an edge over your competitors?

Scalable business process automation tools. In most the organizations, almost 50-60% of operations are repetitive, routine, and labor-intensive. What happens if suddenly the demand increases 10x? You invest more, you hire more employees, and you buy more resources to handle the demand. What if your demand decreases by 5x after increasing by 10x? Timely scaling in these scenarios can be nightmarish.

The next important thing is basing your critical decisions on data rather than on hunches. Business process automation and intelligent document processing help you gather and collate data across all touchpoints in which give you unprecedented access to business intelligence.

Therefore, AI-powered business process automation and your ability to take business decisions based on data can give you an edge over your competitors.

How has being an entrepreneur affected your family and social life?

Mostly rewarding, but sometimes taxing. An enterprise takes effort, focus, and commitment. It is not the usual 9-to-5 job. On many days, you must work away from your family. Fortunately, I have had plenty of support from my family in this regard. Having said that, family comes first. My family knows that I’m always there for them.

Consider your idol or biggest motivator?

Professionally, many, personally, my parents. For example, these days I hold Mr. Sridhar Vembu, one of the founders of Zoho Corp, in great regard. It is an Indian IT company that is right now giving multinational organizations like Google and Microsoft a run for their money in the niche of office suites. Jeff Bezos is a great motivator – started his company as a single person and now everyone knows where he has taken Amazon. Another idol is Satya Nadella who has completely turned around Microsoft. As I said, there are many.

Share the best 3 applications that your company has created and used for business.

The software applications that your business creates are like your kids, and among your kids, it is very difficult to point at your favorite kids. But since you’re asking me to zero in on the best three applications that my company has created, I would choose C3 (Cognitive Content Capture), BautoProcess, and BautoBots. All three software modules are provided in a single shell to most of our clients, but they can also be leveraged individually.

BautoProcess is a Web-based, drag-and-drop process modeler that allows you to create complex automated processes without much technical knowledge. You can automate highly complicated processes in no time.

C3 is an advanced AI solution OCR that uses a highly sophisticated image processing technique to draw information from uniform and nonuniform documents. It constantly learns to recognize useful information amidst the clutter.

BautoBots it is a collection of bots that make customer service, information gathering, and data saving a breeze, and of course, automatic.

After-sales service is a necessary part of development. How do you provide customer support to your clients?

We practice what we preach. We use our own indigenously developed intelligent bots to provide real-time support to our clients. They can use their mobile app or our web interface to seek all possible answers and assistance.

What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

Mostly I spend time with my family. My business takes up lots of time so whenever I get some spare time, I prefer to spend it with my family. If they are busy doing something else, I read books, especially autobiographies of industry leaders. I love cooking and I indulge in my culinary capabilities whenever I get a chance.

Have you raised any funding? Or do you have any plans for raising funds in the future?

We haven’t yet. At Bautomate we are driven by what’s best for the company and the stakeholders including our employees and our customers. Right now, nothing is off in this regard, but sure, whenever there is a right opportunity, why not?

Give your opinions on how far this app revolution can make a difference in the technology world?

Frankly, I don’t call it an “app revolution”. It is a natural transition. Consumer studies and market research have shown that more people are using mobile phones than desktop computers and laptops. Since, these are digital devices, it is but natural that they use mobile apps. I mean, if you want to post an update on Instagram, you need a mobile app. If you want to maintain your schedule on your mobile phone, you need a mobile app. So, this is a normal transition. The more people use mobile phones, the greater number of apps are going to be there in the market.

Sure, mobile apps are making a very, very big difference. From video editing to video conferencing to word processing to running business intelligence tools like OCR and business process automation, practically everything is being done on mobile phones these days. The best thing about mobile technology is you’re not confined to your desk, workstation or cubicle. You could be sitting in a park under a tree and participating in an international consortium on robotic process automation technologies. That’s quite amazing, no?

What latest technologies and tools you are planning to implement for mobile app development?

Although these days I’m working more at business development levels, the development teams at Bautomate are constantly developing cutting-edge applications with the most updated tech stacks that enable them to leverage the best capabilities of diverse mobile environments.

What’s your approach to creating interactive and addictive UX/UI of mobile apps and websites?

Two things: purposefulness and responsive feedback. UX/UI in themselves solve no purpose. You can have the most dazzling UX/UI combination but by the end of the day, if the users cannot solve their day-to-day problems, they are of no use. Hence, our primary focus is to help people solve their most pressing problems, as fast as possible.

Mention the ways you use to introduce new updates to your team.

My first priority is to make sure that everybody is on board whenever we are introducing new technologies and updates. Disruption can be positive and negative. In fact, disruption is actually sometimes good in the sphere of the consumers, but for developers, it can be distracting. Together, we go through the pros and cons of shifting or transitioning to new technologies or new modes of development. We play around with the new tools for a while. The main stress is on making everyone comfortable with the new updates. Once we know that everyone is comfortable, we start using the updates for production purposes.

Anything you would like to say to our readers, upcoming entrepreneurs, or startup companies?

Solve problems. Give what consumers are looking for. Don’t get carried away with trying to prove yourself. Remember that you are offering a product for which people are going to have to pay. They must get what they are paying for. As long as you deliver something people need in the most convenient and attractive manner, you’re always going to be in great demand.

In our field, talking in terms of Bautomate, we help our clients automate their complex processes and reduce their workload and scalability problems as much as possible. This is our strength. We make our customers happy. We free up their time and resources so that they get breathing space to grow. Hence, when they are using our solutions, we help them grow. This is our strength. This is why our clients stick with us.
