Top 10 Free Apps For Travel Survival

I love to travel, whether it be a day trip getaway or for a few days of R&R. But man, do I hate the planning! I’m the type of person who just wants to get in the var and go. Because of this, I decided it was time I share the apps I use to survive while on the go.

Pack Point

This iPhone/ Android app allows you to enter your destination and pack accordingly. You pick out activities that you may be doing on your trip and Pack Point gives you a breakdown of the items you’ll most likely need.

Gas Buddy

Are you traveling by automobile? If so, Gas Buddy is your best friend. The app searches your location and sorts the cheapest gas around to make sure you save every penny for the actual vacation.

KAYAK

Planning on flying to your destination, or maybe you’re driving and need a hotel room. Kayak has been and still is, in my opinion, one of the best apps you can have for planning out your trip. from cheap flights, to hotels, or even rental cars. Kayak is the place where you can search one, and you’re done.

Seat Guru

Did you book your flight already? Download this app to help you select the best seat to sit. Each plane is different, so look up the model and search the app. You’ll find yourself reading reviews on how the seat feels, the leg room or even if a certain seat is frequently bumped into by other passengers.

Gate Guru

While we are discussing flights, I’d like to take a minute to tell you about Gate Guru. This app will help track your flight status for delays or gate changes and even can help you decide what to eat while cruising around the airport.

airbnb

Didn’t want to book a hotel room? Like many, I like the comfort of being home, away from home. This is why Air BnB is a must. Most of the time, you can find a decent sized house or condo for the same price of a hotel room. This is a much better idea because you’ll have the comfort of friendly respectable people just like yourself, renting out their own homes and in some cases showing you around the town.

ARGUS by Azumio

Like myself, you probably have a fitness routine while your home and sometimes it is hard to stay focused on that routine while traveling. With Argus, You can Feed your wild side while traveling and still keep up on your health. This app uses your phone or fitness band to help track your steps for the day or your calorie intake. If you like to stay healthy on the go, this is an app for you.

Duolingo

I Am in love with this app. Recently I took a trip to Berlin, Germany and found myself really confused with the language. That is when I discovered, Duolingo. This free app allows you to learn multiple languages through speech and text for an optimal learning experience. In just one day I was 5% proficient in German.

Google Translate

Are you lazy? Or maybe you just don’t have time to learn the language. Well, Google Translate has your back. This app for iphone and android allows you to translate by speech, text or even live through your camera. Just point at a word you don’t know and Google will translate the text in live preview. It is truly amazing.

Yelp

Last and certainly not least, I have to include Yelp. Yelp has helped me discover places all over the world by searching resturant, or bar. This well-known app is simply the best for worldwide traveling. Don’t waste your time reading personal reviews or asking locals, seriously, just Yelp it.
