About Us—The Pillar
In a world where opinionated news, pointless arguments, empty reporting, condescending articles and flattery have come to define journalism, The Pillar wants to restore journalism to its true sense. At The Pillar, we believe true journalism is about debate, not opinion, finding facts through investigation, not fake news to support a propaganda and asking hard questions, not surrendering to the people in power.
The Pillar wishes to show you facts the way they are no matter how displeasing or bitter they are, even if they displease the people in power.
“Criticism from the government is a badge of honor for journalists”, said Raj Kamal Jha, The Indian Express editor-in-chief mocking ‘selfie’ journalists.
What are the services you offer to your clients?
We provide advertisement services to businesses that wish to leverage on our audience to grow their business.
In this intensely competitive era, what technologies, services, and project model can give you an edge over your competitors?
We are a news portal. We don’t rely on newer technologies until they are mature enough to hit the market.
After service is a necessary part of development. How do you provide customer support to your client?
We don’t have any provision as of now.
How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
Well, when I quitted a high job to pursue my dream to become an entrepreneur. Of course, my family couldn’t accept this decision. I know without them I can’t achieve anything. I am trying to bring them to my side. Indeed, I have to prove myself on various levels. This going to take some time, which I indeed don’t have. You know struggles of a new business.
Anything, you would like to say to our readers or upcoming entrepreneurs?
Not everybody you meet is your friend. The journey of entrepreneurship takes more than it gives.
Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
I am a huge fan of Barrack Obama. The entire world misses him.
What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I go on long motorbike rides. I have been to Goa, Ladakh, and Bhutan on a bike. Well, I hardly get any spare time and sleep in that.
Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
Not yet. We are planning to pitch a few investors in late 2018 or 2019
Give your opinions on how far this app revolution can make a difference in the technology world?
Well, apps have made far more difference so much that we have started to take them for granted. I was talking to a few people what if the popular apps that we use become paid like Netflix. We will be doomed.
What latest technologies and tools you’re planning to implement for mobile app development?
We are looking to develop The Pillar app for Android and iOS
What’s your approach to creating interactive and addictive UX/UI of mobile apps and websites?
I believe content is the king. As long you are producing top-notch content, I guess you don’t have to depend on UI/ UX tricks to lure customers. It just happens. I don’t care how Facebook UI looks like. I like the content.
Mention the ways you use to introduce new updates to your team.
We are still a small team. So we just tell everybody. It is simpler that way. That might change once we grow. We might use one of those project management software tools.
What are various technologies you used to make this app a reality?
We are using the same technologies. Nothing new as of now. In fact, one of our computers is still a Pentium 4. So ya, we make people use technology while we don’t use it ourselves.
What is your go-to-market schemes at a global level?
Persistence, I guess there nothing more than that. If you’re persistent with what you’re delivering, nothing can stop you. So that is our go-to market strategy.
You’re Message for Other Startup companies?
