Glydr : Connecting College & University Students with Employers – App Spotlight Interview
The idea Behind Glydr App
Recently Bestmobileappawards.com Team had an opportunity to speak with Tay Mal, the President at Glydr App LLC about Glydr
Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.
The rise of the gig economy and the lack of any online platforms providing job opportunities wholly focusing on college & university students in the US was the prime motivator behind this endeavor.
What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?
Currently, we are basing our operation in L.A and will be going nationwide soon.
We intend to partner with other gig economy operators such as Uber, assisting in providing safe and secure transportation for the student.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?
The ease of use, design and the feedback from initial users.
What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?
We have a feature we like to call ‘double role feature’. This allows students to create 2 profiles under 1 account. In other words, a student can also create an employer profile and hire other students for a job.
What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?
We were surprised by the amount of positive feedback from the early sets of users during A/B testing and data gathering.
Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?
The rise of apps catering to the gig economy.
Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?
If you have an idea then do not hesitate to go out and create an app. It’s a very safe investment, given that you put your heart & mind into it.
How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?
Our test and the initial market is in the State of California, so naturally, IOS was the best choice to test our MVP.
We will be releasing on Android by September 2018.
How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?
Glydr lets college & university students search for freelance work, internships, gigs and part-time work in a wide variety of domains such as Business & Finance, Media & Tech, Home, Services, Education and Delivery & Shopping.
